Zen of the big, scary leap

What a beautiful spot.

I took this shot while I was procrastinating. I was standing on a very jagged rock about to jump across the stream to another rock.

For some reason, I felt stuck. Sue (who has two artificial knees) had already hopped across and was waiting on the other side. She was looking back at me, very bemused by my inaction.

Seeing this photo now makes me think I should have just taken a seat and enjoyed the moment a little longer.  But I jumped. And I made it.

Happy trails to us: Hiking in Payson, Arizona

Hiking in Payson, Arizona, originally uploaded by RobinJP.
We were hiking along a forest trail today outside of Payson, Arizona, and ran into these critters.

Usually in Arizona, hikers have to keep an eye out for snakes and an ear out for their rattle. But we came upon these two guys (and their friends) tethered to some trees.

There were no riders around, but they were with six other horses. All were tied and standing very still in the middle of our path.

We gave them a wide berth, walked on by and continued our beautiful, perfect day in the woods.
