It slipped my mind or my mind slipped me: Conversations with my mom

It's really bad when my mom and I both lose our memory in the same conversation.

This is how it went this morning:

Joyce: One time when I was working at Frontier Airlines, I saw a group of girls dressing up in the ladies room, getting ready to go to Vegas to see a singer ... oh, you know, a man...

Me: Tom Jones?

Joyce: No, younger. And he was kind of country.

Me: Oh, um.. that Achy Breaky Heart guy?

Joyce: No. He married a younger woman ... welll, they all do. That's not a good story.

Me: Um... Kenny Chesney?

Joyce: No. He was really popular. Country Western and his wife and daughter have a house and people go there for his birthday.

Me: Umm... Garth Brooks?

Joyce: Oh wait, this was 1967 not '77. And he wiggled.

Me: Elvis!

Joyce: Yes, that's him!

... pathetic.

What's it gonna be like in 10 years?

I've told Sue she has to keep her mind. I'll keep my legs. Together we'll be OK.

How funny!! I guess it certainly all perspective. I don't know that I ever would have got to Elvis.

I love this moment! As I have gotten older, I find that that word just slips from my mind and I am always asking for "the..um, you know.." glad to know I have company!

Jamie: Something in "he wiggled" made me think of Elvis the Pelvis!!

And, yes, Delenn... you are not alone. I'm classic with movies.. "You know. The guy who played the dad in the movie with that guy who was later a judge on Law & Order ... he was married to one of The Friends characters. You know!"
